An Autumn/Winter look book for menswear designer Stefano Beruschi whose collection exclusively comprises grey tones inspired by the British climate and getting caught in the rain.
I like the idea of using a porous, delicate material like newsprint to shield yourself from getting wet. Also the grey tone of newsprint seemed to fit with the collections washed out colour palette and garment layering, so I produced a tabloid style newspaper to reflect these themes.
As well as photographing the studio look book images we shot a narrative involving two characters that secretly meet in a deserted rain soaked street, are involved in some kind of transaction and then hurriedly depart to avoid getting 'caught'.
This story appears as full page b/w spreads and is interspersed with smaller washed out colour look book images. This creates a dynamic format and empathises the surface quality of unprinted newsprint, something the client was particularly interested in preserving.
